May 11, 2016 - June 8, 2016
5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Jake SAT Prep classes are designed to keep students above the hubbub and ahead of the curve. Whether you have already taken one of my full-length SAT courses or you are new to my classroom, we will break down the ACT exam into manageable components to ensure your greatest potential on test day.
English Test – We will review basic usage and mechanics (including punctuation and grammar), as well as perfect the rhetorical skills crucial to deciphering reading passages quickly.
Math Test – Since the ACT math section covers a multitude of concepts, we will focus on those that are less familiar and more challenging to us. Sample trouble spot topics include matrixes and stem-leaf plots.
Reading Test – We will uncover the most effective strategies for retaining key information to maximize the amount of questions we can answer about a passage in a short amount of time.
Science Test – We will hone our ability to interpret data in the ways the ACT expects us to. Extrapolation is a skill that moves beyond the fast reading of charts, graphs, and tables.
Writing Test – We will gain a full understanding of what is expected to achieve a top writing score on test day and learn how to craft a thorough yet succinct essay.
Throughout all of our instruction, top consideration will be given to pacing strategies, as the time constraints of the ACT are the primary challenge of this exam.
Class will meet on: 5/11, 5/18, 5/25, 6/8
Please note there is no class on 6/1 – the Wednesday after Memorial Day
The cost of the class is $250.
